Sunday morning hike at Dreamy Draw

  • Jan 20, 2013 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

This hike is rated INTERMEDIATE. This is a joint event with the Trail Mix group.

Come out for a morning hike at Dreamy Draw! We'll do part of the #100 trail then loop around the 1A and VOAZ loop which is very scenic. This is the "4 bench" hike since we pass 4 benches along the way. There is quite a bit of climbing but we'll take it at a moderate pace and take breaks along the way. Many of the trails are quite rocky (just like all these mountain ranges around here) so you're encouraged to have sturdy hiking footwear. Bring snacks and a camera, too.

DISTANCE: 4 miles roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN: Several hundred ft
DURATION: 2 hours
DOGS: Yes, if leashed.
FACILITIES: Bathroom and water fountain
WEBSITE: Trailmap
DIRECTIONS: AZ Route 51 to exit 7 - Northern Ave. Head east on Northern Ave and you'll immediately enter the park. Continue on the winding access rd until you reach the parking lot.

FYI... After a couple of extended doggie rests and finding other dogs to follow, we made it back to the parking lot :) Great trail and thanks for setting up this event!

Hi Terrie, so glad you and Cody could join us. Thank you for letting me know made it out okay! Maybe it got just a little hot out there for Cody. Hope to see you again on another hike!

Next time Cody will skip this trail... he misstepped about 7-9 times on his left foot probably looking for bunnies. He didn't limp at the time, but is kinda favoring it now. He just seemed tired rather than overheated...he is use to this distance but not the steep. He got pampered at the Hiker's Hut and his eyes (and mine) are still happily sparkeling :) Thanks again!

It has been a couple of months since I have hiked. I usually have no trouble completed any hike I do but I am not the fastest hiker. The last hike I did was Go John Trail and it took me about 2.5 hours do you think I can keep up.

Kim, I'm not sure how long the Go John Trail but I do not go at a fast pace, just moderate and we do stop along the way to rest, drink water, and take in the views.

Is it ok if kids attend?

    January 18, 2013

    • Jean

Yes, they sure are but just as long as they can keep up with the pace of the group. We do not go fast but at a nice moderate pace.
