Today's event Golden Gate is having another meeting and is requesting our assistance til 230 pm if you can but your not obligated.
We are going to be volunteering on a regular basis the third Saturdays of the month with Golden Gate Community Center (http://www.goldengatecenter.org/) in West central Phoenix! Golden Gate Community Center (http://www.goldengatecenter.org/) has been serving the community for over 70 years and provides Head Start programs, computer labs, ESL classes, cooking classes, after school programs, senior programs, health fairs and special events for the community members.
We'll be volunteering with the youth of the center who are part of the KARE program (http://www.arizonaschildren.org/karecenter.htm). This program works with family members raising grandchildren, nieces or nephews, cousins or other relatives; an adoptive family or about to become one; raising children of a family member in jail or raising a child under 18 not born to them. While the adults are in a special Time to Share program, we will interact with the youth doing a range of activities in their gymnasium, pool, foosball, arts and crafts, games, etc.
Time: 9:30am - 12:15 pm
Dress Attire: Casual
Duties: Play with the kids! Interacting/Engaging youth in physical activities in gym (dodgeball, football, frisbee, jump rope) as well as arts & crafts & table games, etc. There is also a toddlers area if you enjoy that age group.
Minimum age is 15 with an adult accompanying them.
We understand that plans change and emergencies come up. If you RSVP YES, but can no longer attend, PLEASE change your RSVP ASAP. Please note that we do have an attendance policy. Our charity partners rely on us to attend when we say we will and our attendance policy is intended to ensure we can meet our charity partners' expectations. Please give a minimum of 2 hours notice for this event before canceling. No Call/No Shows will be recorded, and after 3 No Call No Shows/month or 6 No Call No Shows/year, you will be removed from the Phoenix Philanthropists MeetUp. Please understand this policy is not intended to penalize our philanthropists, but to ensure we maintain good relationships with our charity partners and can give the most back to our community.
