Goodwill of Central Arizona's Annual Evening of Goodwill Event

Hi Everyone!

Goodwill of Central Arizona needs volunteers to help with their 12th Annual Evening of Goodwill-Denim & Diamonds fundraiser on October 13th. The event will have a casual country western theme, live music, western games, and a complete barbeque dinner.

Location: Mummy Mountain at Camelback Inn in Scottsdale

Time: 40 Volunteers are needed from 4-9 pm. You may be done sooner depending on how long tear down takes. Shift time is subject to change. A boxed dnner will be provided to each Volunteer who works the entire event

Dress Attire: Jeans and a button up shirt or blouse. It is a western theme event.

Duties: Duties include registration, preparations and implementation of the raffle, packaging silent auction items, preparations for the silent auction, managing games that guests will play, setup, photography, directing people to and from the stage and other locations, security, greeting guests, and breakdown of the event.

Minimum Age of Volunteers: 18 Years Old

Important Details!

Volunteer Training

All volunteers MUST attend one orientation. All volunteers who assist with registration and the silent auction must attend one training session. The orientation will be held at the Camelback Inn and the training session will be held at the Goodwill of Central Arizona Corporate Center (Multi-Purpose Room) located at 2626 W. Beryl Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021. If attending during lunch hour, please bring your own lunch, water and a snack will be available.

October 2, 2012 - General orientation will be held at 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

October 9, 2012 - Training to review specific volunteer duties - 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM or 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

I know this is not a typical requirement for events that we help with. If you cannot make the orientation and training, please make sure to note on your RSVP.

The 12th Annual Evening of Goodwill will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 5:30pm – 9:00pm at Mummy Mountain at Camelback Inn. We will continue the tradition of a casual country western theme and entertain you and our guests with live music, western games and a complete barbeque dinner.

We are looking for volunteers to help with projects leading up to the event and the day of the event. Come and support Goodwill’s mission to Put People to Work! and help us in delivering workforce development training and solutions within the state.

Photographer Assistants – 5:00pm – 8:00pm Greet guests who come to one of two photography stations to have a commemorative photo taken

Manage flow of line for guests awaiting their photograph

Run digital images to printing process and assist with printing of pictures

ut pictures in photo sleeves and display on table provided

Close, pack and clean up photography stations and place items in designated area for transport

Registration – 4:00pm – 7:00pm Greeting guests as they arrive to the event

Verify name on guest list and/or check off in computer

Ensure each guest that checks in is provided a name badge and other materials

Troubleshoot issues, i.e., guests who may substitute for pre-registered guests, guests wanting to pay at the door, etc.

Ensure guest flow is moving steadily and into the event as soon as possible

Close, pack and clean up registration and place items in designated area for transport

Raffles – 4:00pm – 9:00pm Set up raffle items – 3 stationary raffle stations and 2 groups roving

Sell raffle tickets to guests throughout the venue

Transport raffle items to check out for guests who have won

Close, pack and clean up raffle stations and place items in designated area for transport

Silent Auction – 4:00pm – 9:00pm unless where indicated o Help in securing silent auction items (prior to the event)

Set up silent auction stations (1:00pm – 4:00pm)

Customer service at one of four silent auction stations

Encouraging guests to bid on silent auction items

Explain silent auction items

Input bids into computer

Remove and organize silent auction items for check out

Remove and organize décor and take down stations

Close, pack and clean up silent auction stations and place items in designated area for transport


All volunteers must attend a general volunteer orientation on October 2nd from 6:00pm – 7:30pm to be held at Camelback Inn located at 5402 E Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale, AZ

All silent auction and registration volunteers must attend a training session on October 9th to be held at Goodwill Corporate Center from 12:00pm – 1:00pm or 5:00pm – 6:00pm located at 2626 W Beryl Avenue, Phoenix, AZ
