Downtown Milwaukee Architecture Shoot

  • Apr 17, 2010 · 1:00 PM

Hello everyone!

Thank you everyone for voting on what upcoming Meetups you would like to see. As a result of this, Rigo has offered to help lead a photowalk in downtown Milwaukee to photograph architecture. While specific details haven't been quite nailed down yet (we will update this listing soon), we decided we will be doing a walk just south of downtown, in the Summerfest, MIAD area. We will meet afterward at a nearby eatery (or drinkery.)

UPDATE!!!

Rigo and Eric have done some scouting and have determined that we will be meeting at 1:00pm at the NORTHWEST CORNER of N Water Street and E. St. Paul. There is a parking lot there that offers all day parking for $5.00, or, you can take your chances at a parking meter (I never seem to get back to the parking meter in time.)

The unofficial route they have planed out will take between 1.5 - 2 hours. You can stay with the group, or go exploring on your own.

If you haven't already, there are a couple places to vote on upcoming meetups. 1. The IDEAS page
2. The POLLS Page.

Please go vote at the pages now if you haven't already.

I was there, well almost. We got there late @ 2:00 and I left the cell phone number at home and couldn't find anyone. I think for now on I'm just going to respond as maybe and if I actually make it to an event it will be a surprise. :(

Fun and lots of potential shots. Wish the time of day was different...mid day-lots of sunshine and clear skies...beautiful for all but photography!

The latitude and longitude of the area on the northwest corner of Water and St Paul is[masked], -87.9091108.

The parking area is the surface parking lot south of that point on the southwest corner of Water and St Paul--I don't know the entrance to that as I am not familiar with it.

I knew not to do that!!! :( (My bad) it's just a small plaza across the street (North) from the parking lot, it's just a bigger area, safer and somewhat more private. Plus there is a small stage for your introduction and briefing ;) . It's just to gather everyone in one place. it's the Northwest corner of N.Water and E. St Paul. Sorry! :(

Hi Steven! Welcome to the group! Don't worry, I just got a new DSLR on Friday myself. I figure the only way to learn is to get out there and do. My experience with the group is that everyone is great and really passionate about photography. Nobody makes you feel like the new guy :)

In preparation for our architecture shoot (which I'm REALLY excited about), I found this photo website by accident when looking for something else. Think we have anything this dramatic in Milwaukee? http://tinyurl.com/yeamped
