mmmMMMmmm... brings back many memories - I've spent a lot of time in Oz. Not far from this spot, there is a crazy old art-deco hotel, the Hydro Majestic, built in the 1920s as a spa. It was restored and reopened about 1996 and Wendy and I were amongst the first visitors there... I'll see if I have any pictures (they are all on slides from that era)...

PS. There is a totally insane stairway that goes all the way down to that valley bolted to the cliff face. Didja try it? I got a few hundred feet down, and the swaying of the thing made me turn back. :-)

Thanks Gail and Russ. Glad to provide some fodder for reminiscing! No, I didn't walk down the stairs but I did see them; looked a bit scary and they were really crowded. My friend and I were at the end of a 1 month road trip so not so enthusiastic as we might've been! I wish I'd known about the Hydro Majestic (I visited a number of spas along the way) but my early research was spotty. So much to see and even with 5 weeks, we only touched on some of the fun stuff! :)

Yowch. I wouldn't go near those stairs if they are crowded - they felt like they were going to collapse with just me and Wendy on them!

Good thinking - I have to scout my travel pictures. And good picture. Have any cave photos?
