All About Lighting - Workshop & Model Shoot

For beginners and experienced photographers alike, this in-depth introduction to lighting will help you with all lighting situations. We will introduce you to the four most useful light setups and teach you how to set them up. We'll explain the use of the main light, fill, hair light, background light, and back-lighting and show you how different light modifiers affect the look of your image. We'll work with umbrellas, soft boxes (rectangular, octagonal and strip), beauty dishes, reflectors, grids and snoots. After our introduction and practice setting up the lights, some of our best models will be present for posing and lighting.

The second half of the seminar will concentrate on posing of the models with a special attention to the details, to save us time in post-processing. This is a premier learning opportunity for a small number of photographers at a great price. Teams of three will work in each of our 4 studios with only one photographer shooting at a time. Every photographer will get to photograph each model with all of our different lighting setups. Secrets of great full body shots, head shots and multiple poses will be revealed. Join us!

A lot of fun - and learned a lot too! Am really sorry I'm not free for the one in March.

Thanks to Tim and Ed for setting up this learning experience. Each time I go to one of these I learn a little more. What could make this an even better event is either if there was a helper at each of the shooting stations OR if there was an extra person to coordinate the models and the timing of the rotations between the shooting stations. Unfortunately with two instructors, 12 people, and 4 workstations, they would sometimes get bogged down in one station while others had to stand around waiting for assistance or for a model to shoot. And a shout out to all of the great models that were at the event!

I went into this as a complete novice; I learned a lot and came out inspired to learn as much as I can about studio shooting.
