The Fourth Annual Saint Louis Photography Club Photo Contest! There are cash and additional prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in each of the 20 categories, and a best of show prize.
Entries will be received Friday, January 25,[masked]am-9pm and Saturday, January 26 from 10am to 5pm at the St. Louis Photo Authority®'s Studio 858, 858 Hodiamont Avenue, St. Louis, 63112.

Images must be submitted on disc (CD/DVD) or USB drive in jpeg format, minimum resolution of 3000 pixels on the long side.
Each entry must be accompanied by $30 fee, which covers up to 3 images, one or more submission forms listing all of the entries by title, and the $25 yearly membership fee for the Saint Louis Photography Club, if not already paid. Additional entries may be submitted for an additional $10 each. Up to 8 images may be listed on each submission form. There is no limit to the number of images you may enter. All photographs remain the property of their creators, but your entry into the contest grants the Saint Louis Photography Club permission to use your submitted images for promotional purposes.
All images must have EXIF data intact and must have been taken in 2018. All photographs must have been taken by the submitter. HDR is acceptable in all categories, composites must be entered into the Composite category. Prints from images entered into the Film category must be supplied with their original negative, positive or transparency.
The best 101 photos will be selected from the submissions. All 101 Finalists must submit a presentation-ready print for the gallery showing in order to win a prize. Prints must be framed, with or without mat, or canvas gallery wraps, or metal prints. All prints must be wired and ready to hang. The minimum size for the finished prints is 11x14, the maximum size is 30 inches on the long dimension. 20% of each image's grade will depend on the quality of the presentation; i.e., matting, framing and readiness to hang.
All of our judges are experienced and accomplished professionals in the arts. The decisions of the judges are final.
Remember, as stated above in the requirements section, you must be current with your photography club dues. You may submit the $25 yearly dues with your application if you are not currently a member or if you have not yet paid.
Your images must be saved in .jpg form, and must be a minimum resolution of 3000 pixels on the long side. All images must have EXIF data intact and must be from 2018.
Give each of your images a title and make that title its file name.
Save all of your submitted files to one CD/DVD or USB drive.
Mark the disc or drive with your name and e-mail address. Do not put labels or tape on discs!
Fill out as many entry forms as you need (up to 8 images per form) for your images. There is no limit to the number of images you enter. You may submit a series of up to 4 images to be considered as a group.
The $30 entry fee is not refundable and covers up to 3 images. If you enter a series of images, to be considered as a group, each image is $10, with a minimum group size of 3.

You may bring your CD/DVD or USB drive in person to the St. Louis Photo Authority®'s Studio 858 at 858 Hodiamont Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63112, on Friday, January 25, 2019 between 10am & 9pm or Saturday, January 26, from 10am to 5pm. If you drop your images and application in person, you can get a tour of our extensive studio and some refreshments. Your media will not be returned to you.
Exhibition at the St. Louis Photo Authority®'s Studio 858
The best 101 photos will be selected from the submissions. All 101 Finalists must submit a presentation-ready photograph for the April 6-13 gallery showing in order to win a prize. Prints must be framed, with or without mat, or canvas gallery wraps, or metal prints, wired and ready to hang. The minimum size for the finished prints is 11x14, the maximum size is 30 inches on the long dimension. Prints not conforming to specifications will be disqualified. Prints may be offered for sale at the gallery show with 20% of proceeds going to the Saint Louis Photography Club. All finalists will be featured in the commemorative book printed for the gallery showing and available for purchase and in promotional materials for the Saint Louis Photography Club and St. Louis Photo Authority®. No responsibility is assumed or accepted by the St. Louis Photo Authority® or the St. Louis Photography Club for any issues arising from this contest.
Judges will evaluate each image on each of the following criteria:
Impact - strong first impression
Originality - point of difference , creativity in camera
Lighting – use of natural or artificial light
Composition - point of interest, cropping, placement of elements
Presentation - print quality, matting, framing, ready-to-hang
The quality of the presentation will be judged on the prints submitted by finalists; matting, framing and readiness to hang. Each category will count for 20% of the final score.
