photography for fundraiser

Volunteer opportunity for those who are interested. I am out of town during this event so if you are interested please contact Helen Milne directly [masked] or email [address removed] and mention "photography for fundraiser" in the subject or message.

I am contacting you on behalf of the Milne
Stevens Johnson Syndrome Society to ask if any of your members
would consider donating some of their time as volunteer
photographers at our upcoming "Party in the Park" at
Elk/Beaver Lake on June 26, 2010.

One of the planned activities is that we will have a Harley
Davidson Motorbike on location for the day (supplied by Steve
Drane Harley Davidson) so that individuals or families can have
a photograph taken on or around the bike for a nominal
donation. In terms of the "process" the idea is to take the
subjects email addresses and then match frame numbers to email
addresses so that the photo can be emailed directly to the
subject. Having seen your website, and the quality of the
photographs taken by Victoria Camera Club members, it would be
wonderful if they could consider becoming a part of our day.
Your experience and expertise would certainly be of benefit to
the event. I recognize the marketing benefits that can
accompany the participation of the Victoria photography meetup
group and would be happy to discuss any ideas you may have
which would allow you to contribute or participate while at the
same time providing marketing opportunities for the club and
it's members. All sponsors and participating organizations
will have their business name / logo displayed on our ?Thank
You? board in recognition of their contributions.

Our goal for this fundraising event is that it will be a family
fun day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting with a Pancake Break,
BBQ in the afternoon, Birthday Cake in the evening and lots of
family/kid friendly activities and entertainment throughout the
day. Simultaneously we will cheer for Jacquie Farris as she
walks 100K (in one day) to celebrate her 60th birthday. Jacquie
is dedicating her walk as a fundraiser for Ian Milne, a 12 year
old Victoria boy, who is travelling to Boston in July for sight
saving medical treatment at the Boston Foundation for Sight.
You can learn more about Ian, Stevens Johnson Syndrome and our
fundraising efforts at A silent auction will
take place during the walk, with proceeds directly benefiting
Ian's ongoing treatment costs.

The Milne Stevens Johnson Syndrome Society is a registered non-
profit organization based in Victoria, since 2008. Our passion
for increased public knowledge about Stevens Johnson Syndrome
is sincere.

Financially support Ian Milne?s medical costs and related
travel expenses as he continues to access sight-saving medical
treatment in the US bi-annually. 100% of funds raised are used
for Ian?s care.
Promote awareness about the devastating effects of adverse
reactions to medications such as Stevens Johnson Syndrome.
Actively seek sponsors and donors for our fundraising events.
Provide advocacy and support to SJS patients across Canada as
facilitators for the International Stevens Johnson Syndrome

As I read through the email, I'm aware that it is all very
formal and does not really convey the individuality of our
situation. This is a "last minute fundraiser" given that Ian's
upcoming trip is due to a recent deterioration in his medical
condition and so we do not have the luxury of being super
organized. Any help that you can provide would really mean the
world to us. For more information, please do not hesitate to
call, email or visit our website using the information above.
Our ability to maintain Ian's vision, while raising awareness
about SJS, truly depends on the support of our community.

With many sincere thanks in advance and I look forward to
talking to you soon.
