About: A look at PHP 5.4 and 5.5 features. Significant performance improvements, Traits, short array syntax, function array dereferencing, generators, finally statement, opcache and lots of other new and cool things are available in PHP 5.4 and in the upcoming PHP 5.5 release, but are you ready to upgrade? What might trip up your legacy code and your deploy mechanism and which assumptions do you need to revisit.

Rasmus Lerdorf is known for having gotten the PHP project off the ground in 1995 and has contributed to a number of other open source projects over the years. He was an infrastructure architect at Yahoo! for more than 7 years and joined Etsy ( in 2012.
