This stunning experimental documentary – using rotoscopic animation combined with archival footage – recreates the events of August 1, 1966, when a sniper rode the elevator to the top floor of the University of Texas Tower and opened fire. The unfolding tragedy was one of the first school shootings in the US, and the film’s rendering is both suspenseful and beautiful. It’s based entirely on testimonies from witnesses, heroes and survivors of that infamous day, a day when the worst in one human brought out the best in many others.
