Eco Fest is an annual event held every October at the Wilkins School Community Center in Regent Square. This year Eco Fest will be held on Saturday, October 5th 10am-2pm. The purpose of Eco Fest is to promote local green businesses as well as educate the public on green lifestyle practices. It's a very causal event, and draws very open-minded individuals who care about the environment. I think an ongoing discussion (supplemented with handouts) throughout the event would be helpful. If we can get just one person to consider going vegan (or cutting back on animal products), I would consider that a success. Like I said, this event attracts like-minded individuals, with many who are already concerned with humane treatment toward animals. They just need help making the connection! I am not looking for individuals who are experts on the matter, just those who are willing to 'talk' about the impact that factory farming (among other practices) has on the environment. This can be a regular outreach event for the Pittsburgh Vegan Meetup group. We can try it out this year and modify it to be even more successful in the coming years. Join us!
