✳️ Claude Code: A Hands-On Primer
Details
Claude Code: A Hands-On Primer
Anthropic’s Claude Code is an agentic coding CLI that lives in your terminal. It can read and modify your repo, execute shell commands, and carry out multi-step tasks end-to-end.
This isn’t autocomplete, and it isn’t chat.
It’s a different operating model for working with LLMs — and how you set it up determines whether it feels like a novelty or becomes part of your daily workflow.
In this session, we’ll walk from fundamentals to practical patterns: how Claude Code is structured, how it manages context and memory, and how to extend it with reusable capabilities.
🧠 What We'll Cover:
- Ecosystem & structure
Global vs project config, `CLAUDE.md` precedence, `@path` imports, rules, and memory model - Core usage & control
Plan mode, headless mode, worktrees, permissions, context, keywords/`ultrathink` - Extensibility primitives
Skills, subagents, hooks — when to use each and how they compose - Live build walkthrough
Deploy a real `/tutor` skill, backed by a research subagent, end-to-end
👥 Who this is for
Engineers, developers, and builders who want to move beyond editor autocomplete into true agentic workflows. No prior Claude Code experience needed. Beginners will get a solid foundation, and intermediate+ users will leave with additional context, tips, and resources.
🛠️ Prerequisites (if you'd like to follow along during the panel)
