Michael's Pizzeria 'cause Zagat says it's one of the top Pizzerias

A few months ago, Zagat revealed Michael's Pizzeria  as one of the Top 15 Pizzerias in the nation. The news shocked the heck out of me, because no where on that list was Pizzeria Mozza; a pizzeria that I adore so much.

Well, I'm not sure how Michael's Pizzeria fell under my radar and those of a lot of noteworthy food sections of our favorite LA publications, websites, popular local food bloggers, and yes...the Yelpers. But who cares. As I think of this more intensely, I would like to eat at one of the best pizzerias in the nation

Does Michael's Pizzeria have the best pizza? It looks like Neapolitan pizza so let's go find out if it is indeed...THE BEST.

Unlike other Meetup Dining groups, I choose NOT to require a deposit to attend this event. When you RSVP Yes, I know that you are a responsible diner who is fully committed to attending this dining event and paying for your share of the bill plus your beverages.

Also, a profile photo of YOU is required if you RSVP Yes. No photos of your pets (although we'd love to dine with pets), flowers, plants, landscape, an avatar, a cartoon, or some object or thing that is not you in human form. If there is no real profile photo of you when you RSVP, I will automatically change your RSVP to No.

Other Stuff to know:

• You are responsible for updating your attendance when you can no longer attend. the last day to change your own RSVP is January 8th.

• Bring an appetite, plan to eat family-style, and expect no substitutions or accommodations. We'll order 5 - 6 specialty pizzas, a couple sides, and maybe dessert.

• Bring between $40-50 to spend. Cash is preferable, because it makes it easy to settle the bill with the restaurant.

• Plan to pay for your share of the food bill. The bill will be equally split and you will be responsible for paying for your own meal plus beverages.

Drive time: The Long Beach Naples area is quite a bit of a drive from the Westside, so plan ample time to drive to the restaurant and meet us at 10:45AM before they open.

Sunny thanks for organizing, would like to go back to try anything we did not try. Excellent pizza. Extra points to Stephanie for talking her way into the kitchen for photographs.

You're welcome! The long drive across LA County and the wait to eat pizza was worth it. That's again for joining me at Michael's Pizzeria.

Stephanie -- You can ride on an off road, paved bike path from Irwindale to Long Beach, but it is a pretty long way!

If any of you end up hanging out in that area after the Meet Up, their main restaurant, Michael's on Naples (which is next door), has a very nice bar/patio area upstairs and a great Happy Hour from 5-7 daily.

Dratz! I would love to attend but will be in Palm Springs that day. I've been wanting to try out their highly rated pizza.

I was at this location last week; it is indeed tiny, and they do not take reservations, I was told. They do have a second, larger, location in downtown Long Beach, but I don't know the address.

This place is tiny and mainly has 2 and 4 tops. Good thing you're going early so that you can grab the first available tables for the group.
