The Maruhide Uni Club is a must for the self described Uni fiend. After a fabulous family style dinner a few weeks ago, it's time to step it up for Omakase.
A Little Info on Da Club
Every morning Maruhide sends a fleet of ships from San Pedro to the Central Coast north of Santa Barbara, to catch sea urchins (as well as sea cucumbers), which are then transported to its Long Beach plant where the "roe" (really, the gonads) are extracted by hand and packaged. The North American "red sea urchins" are large in size and very sweet compared to Japanese Bafun Uni.
This Torrance restaurant is the factory outlet for this Japanese sea urchin wholesaler which serves both domestic and Asian markets. You can even purchase uni and other sea products to go.

Remember the menu does vary depending upon the catch of the day.
