Dear Polish Global Village Readers,

A couple of you have asked me over the last few weeks when Andrzej Wajda's new movie about Lech Walesa will be shown in the Washington metropolitan area, as if I would know more than you. A screening of this film was being prepared, but information about it was distributed on need-to-know basis and then it was sabotaged by certain activists who shut down the government only to prevent this show (you thought it was about Obamacare!). Determined to seek the ultimate truth and reveal it to you here first, I hacked into NSA servers and through them learned that a secretive group called the American Film Institute... Well. See for yourself what I found:

2013 Oscar Selection, Poland
Q&A with actor Robert Wieckiewicz at both screenings, plus post-screening reception Dec. 5, sponsored by the European Union Delegation to the USA.
Andrzej Wajda (KATYN, ASHES AND DIAMONDS) brings the story of Lech Walesa and the Solidarity movement to the big screen. Robert Wieckiewicz (IN DARKNESS) is magnetic as Walesa, while Agnieszka Grochowska shines as his loyal wife, Danuta. The sharp screenplay by Janusz Glowacki hinges on Walesa's landmark 1981 interview, just months before Poland declared martial law, with Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci (Maria Rosaria Omaggio), recounting in flashback the previous decade-and-a-half of activism; Walesa would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983. Official Selection, 2013 Venice, Toronto, London, Warsaw Film Festivals.
DIR Andrzej Wajda; SCR Janusz Glowacki; PROD Michal Kwiecinski. Poland, 2013, color, 128 min. In Polish and Italian with English subtitles. NOT RATED
Opening Night: Thu, Dec 5, 7:15 (also showing Sat, Dec 7, 1:00)

Also leaked on YouTube is this movie trailer: http://www.youtub...

But shshshsh! You didn't hear it from me.
