The Issues You Don't Talk About Cafe April Meeting

You may have noticed that we are going to do something a bit different this month. We have moved April's Meetup to the last Sunday of the month rather than the last Wednesday. We are going to try this to allow those who have wanted to attend, but couldn't a chance to vent themselves on specific issues.

I hope everyone enjoyed the raffle at the last Meetup. As I said, we won't do that everytime, but we will try and do it when the spirit hits me. I have noticed that many people enjoy the "After Meetup Free For All" where we all just break up into comfortable small groups and go at it. I would like to incorporate that into the Meetup itself, so I thought that we would reserve the last 45 minutes for that. This will make the Meetup less formal, but should allow us to exercise that passionate argumentative side of our personalities. We will come back together for 10 minutes or so to rap up and maybe have the raffle.

Of course the Flying 800 Pound Gorilla will be there and we will continue the "One Minute's."

I am curious about your feedback on this. Hopefully everyone can make it. Apologies to those who have been working for the last free months to free up your last weekend in April. Chances are we will return to Wednesday's in May after I get some feedback from the group.

Now for full disclosure...I have been looking for a way to include those who can't make it on Wednesdays and this is a perfect month to do it because I, selfishly, will be out of town on the last Wednesday of the month for work. Which brings me to, I am looking for an assistant/co-organizer who can take over for me when I am not available. Any volunteers?

A great group of thoughtful, passionate and expressive people. It seems that we got a little carried away and could have gone on for hours. These meetings are fun stops on the journey of life!

This was a great meeting. A great place to discuss issues and get other peoples input.

Re: Bob's idea and Glenn response, having met Glenn, I have an inkling what his definite opinion is. I have heard much discussion around this subject by the participants in the "Showdown" program, PRIOR TO their taping the show. The unrecorded discussion is much better than what gets aired.

If Glenn wants to stir the pot a little bit with this subject, maybe he should move the meeting to The Legacy Cafe.

I am thinking that we have been a bit too tame at the last 2 Meetups. I have tried to make sure that we don't bump heads too hard. This next one, I want to dance a little bit closer to the fire and dig a bit deeper into some of these subjects...take the next few weeks to toughen up your skin. Thin-skinned newbies, beware. ;)

Bob, perfect topic idea! I have a definite opinion on that topic too!

How about this for a topic--
Successful blacks: Betrayer/Sell-out or positive role model. Is there still a victim mentality?
