SUMMARY:End-to-End Database DevOps: Building Automated CI/CD Pipelines for
  Azure SQL
DESCRIPTION:Portland Azure Data User Group\nImplementing Database DevOps r
emains one of the most challenging aspects of modern CI/CD workflows.\n\nT
his session demonstrates how to build a fully automated YAML-based Azure D
evOps pipeline for continuous integration and controlled deployment of Azu
re SQL Databases.\n\nThe process starts with compiling the database projec
t into a DACPAC. Based on the generated DACPAC\, the pipeline creates a de
ployment report showing the schema changes that would be applied to the ta
rget Azure SQL Database and publishes it directly to the pull request\, en
abling transparent review and approval before any deployment occurs.\n\nBo
th the DACPAC and the deployment report are published as versioned artifac
ts\, providing a reliable foundation for auditing\, traceability\, and con
trolled release management.\n\nAfter approval\, the pipeline deploys the v
alidated changes to the target environment with a strong focus on consiste
ncy\, traceability\, and reduced deployment risk. For production deploymen
ts\, the pull request is automatically tagged with deployment metadata\, c
reating a clear link between source changes\, reviewed deployment reports\
, released artifacts\, and the production state.\n\nTo promote scalability
and standardization\, the solution uses reusable YAML templates stored in
a central repository\, making the approach easy to adopt across teams\, p
rojects\, and environments.\n\nBy the end of this session\, attendees will
understand how to design repeatable\, low-risk\, and fully automated data
base deployments that integrate seamlessly into existing Azure DevOps work
flows while supporting versioning\, auditing\, and enterprise-grade change
  management.

SUMMARY:PNW Day of Data 2026
DESCRIPTION:Portland Azure Data User Group\nIt's that magical time of year
again where we have our all day FREE technical conference at a local site
. This year\, we are once again holding our conference at Washington State
University Vancouver\, up in the Salmon Creek area. As many of you know\,
the active leadership lives in the Vancouver area\, so we've naturally mi
grated the event to Vancouver due to the availability of high-quality site
s with excellent parking. We're in partnership with WSU Vancouver and the
WSU Vancouver MIS Club to continue our tradition of almost 20 years of SQL
Saturdays/now Day of Data!\n\nThis year we are going to have pre-cons aga
in for the first time in many years\, and all three topics are from premie
r presenters with a small cover charge of 150.00 to help pay for their tim
 e creating an all-day workshop that includes labs\, exercises\, handouts\,
lunch\, and most importantly\, access to the teacher for the whole day!\n
\nAlso\, we're managing the Data Bus. This year it made more financial sen
se to charter a bus due to the cost and lack of flexibility of Amtrak. Let
's see how it goes.\n\nPlease follow the link to be able to register for t
he event\, the pre-cons\, and the Data Bus.\n\nWe have one more meeting th
is year and then we'll see about finally getting back to an in-person form
at. We know it's been a chaotic year\, but we're looking forward to seeing
you at the Day of Data!\n\nAs always\, free event\, free coffee. Lunch is
provided\, but you have the option to donate as you see fit to help cover
our costs for the event.\n\nHere is the link to the Day of Data website t
hat allows registration via Zeffy\, our campaign platform.\n\nhttps://dayo
