Hi all,

I?ve been communicating with one of our members about an upcoming charity event for homeless youth in Portland, and since it seemed to match up so well with my old career back in Canada, I have become personally involved in the project.  There is an opportunity for musicians to become involved, since it is primarily a musical event.  Initially we?re looking for extra hands to spread the labour around while organizing and coordinating as the event date comes closer, and as with most things eventually we?ll simply need warm bodies to assist on the day of the event.  Beer kegs don?t move themselves!

As the lineup solidifies, we?ll also be looking for bands/performers who wish to donate their time to perform at the event.

The organizer of this event is Julie Rose, and she asked that I send this along to the rest of you.  Give it a read, and see if you might be interested.  If so, contact information for both of us is provided at the bottom of the message.

Hi Everyone -  I'm working on a project here in Portland called "Rock the Socks". It's a benefit concert and art show combined with a sock drive to raise money and socks (as well as other warm clothes) for homeless in Portland. The money raised will be donated to P:EAR mentoring, an organization that works directly with homeless youth. The socks collected will be distributed to the homeless of Portland to help promote health and warmth through the oncoming winter.

I'm looking for musicians that might like to be a part of the organizing side of this project.  The benefit concert will be held on November 7th, at 6pm at the Trim/Vojdani Gallery at P:ear.  Located on SW 6th and Flanders.  This seems like such an amazing group of people so I thought I'd reach out. I hope you're all well!

Julie Rose
