aggregate: meet, greet, learn, collaborate

Aggregate meetup No. 5! Everyone is welcome!

• brief intro/R project or problem: We'll go around the room, each person talk about an R project they've been working on, or a data/data-science problem, or something they want to learn, etc.

• After going around the room, anyone can share some code they've been working on and want help with / want feedback on. Make sure to have this ready before the meeting. Discuss here

• Before arriving, use the pdxrlang/aggregate GitHub repository to discuss ideas for things to work on at aggregate -

• Do bring your computer (if you have one) in case you want to work on something.

• Time: 630pm - 8pm

Doors open about 615 - DON'T SHOW UP BEFORE 615 - we'll start at 630.

Enter on the 8th Ave. entrance where there's gates - The gates may be locked, but a security person will let you in. If you have any trouble message me in the meetup app, or on Twitter at @pdxrlang or @sckottie

Spent Saturday at an offsite with a sick person. Of course I caught it. So unless I'm markedly better tomorrow, I'm going to do the courteous thing and not come tomorrow. You guys don't need a summer cold :-(

I can't attend next week but please discuss the idea of us reading through "R for Data Science" and setting up regular discussions at chapter intervals. Example:
    9/1 - Meetup to discuss Chapter 1
9/14 Meetup to discuss Chapter 2
    ect.. The book is here:

It encompasses maybe 28 meetups. My preference would actually be reading and meeting on a chapter a week. Learning while doing. As a group this might be too complicated for X, Y, Z reasons. However, if no > 5 people are truly interested, and want to make this commitment, I can host the weekly conversations at my house. That said, I hope my generic point here about some kind of a general focusing of our collective minds on a reading, topic or exploratory interest I think would be fun! :]
