How To Join

Fill out a complete profile!
PLEASE take a moment to answer the questions and upload a picture. The Organizer and Assistant Organizer would like to know a bit about you and they need to know what you look like in order to maintain a safe and happy social group. Because many people share the same first name, please include your last name initial.

WHO should join?

The Portland Artists Social Guild is a group of adult (21+) local artists who exchange ideas, tips, techniques, stories and support, share previous works or collaborations, and attend galleries and events while developing valuable friendships!

You are required to attend at least one event within the first three months after joining!!*See below!

(1) Members are responsible for RSVPing to Meetups posted on the site. ("yes", "no", "maybe")

(2) If you cannot attend, please provide up-to-date RSVP information as to why you were unable to attend.*

(3) Be respectful towards fellow members on the site and at the Meetups.

Must I RSVP if I'm not coming?*
Please do. It's not required, but it really helps me if you do. It's okay to RSVP "maybe" or "no", because that lets me know that you're still interested in participating, but may not be able to attend that specific event. You are also encouraged to leave a comment as to why you're not attending; your feedback is very helpful.

May I RSVP "yes" and not show up?
Just as it is disrespectful to make an appointment then break it without notification, when you RSVP "yes" and don't show it deprives other members of the opportunity to RSVP. This causes inconvenience for your fellow members as well as your organizers who work hard to coordinate these meetings. Two consecutive unexplained no-shows may result in removal.

Why is this group "approval only"? has made it a simple click for anyone to join any club, and that leads to a lot of people joining and never participating. By approving members, we deter those who have only a passing interest in the idea of our group. (ie; "club collectors")

Does it cost $money$ to join this group? charges significantly to use their site. To help cover this as well as other group costs, there is a $3 fee per meeting OR a yearly membership of $15 (a buck twenty five per meet and a HUGE help for your coordinator!)

May I bring a friend?
YES! The more, the merrier! When you RSVP, just add the number of guests who will be coming with you so we can plan accordingly. First-time guests are welcome to a complimentary visit with the paid member. *(Sorry, no children allowed.)

What is required of me?
Your interest, participation and attendance is all that is required.

And now for the crackdown! *whip*!

"Who should NOT join?"

1. Those who haven't the time nor motivation to attend and participate! Three months of consecutive inactivity without due reason will result in removal to make room for others to participate.

2. Those requesting membership who are inactive members of and/or have an excessive number of other Meetups (ie; "club collectors"). You will be denied membership to this group.

3. This is not a singles' social! If you have joined for the specific purpose of meeting a prospective mate, you will be removed!

4. Any member deemed disruptive to the harmony of our group will be removed.

5. Minors

6. Those persons sensitive to and easily offended by certain forms of art believing in censorship of any kind. This group accepts, respects and encourages all artists, their process, progress and outcome. True art is an expression of one's self, regardless of what feelings it may stir within some. Art is uninhibited creation with respect to you and you alone. No one else need approve of it.

And with that business aside...
Let's have fun!!
