December Theme : : 7 Deadly Sins - or the 7 Virtues

Pieter Bruegel the Elder: The Seven Deadly Sins or the Seven Vices - Pride

Etching, 1558

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

This month's theme is the 7 Deadly Sins: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. Or the 7 Virtues: chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.

Create something new based on the theme, bring something you've been working on that you'd like to share, or just come for community.

I'll bring beverages and a couple of snacks. Feel free to bring a food item to share if you like.

    I thought vanity was one...?

Oh, I thought of something once home: did you like the jewelry? If so, we can trade one set of those for your painting. AFTER you've made a great printable scan of course. (and it could always be available afterwards if necessary :D )

Yes, Vanity and Pride are the same deadly sin, different names. Like Greed and Avarice, or Gluttony and Oinkerificness.

      What's a "Charlie"?

Cindy - I'm sorry I didn't get to come up to you at the end of the meeting before you left - I wanted to give you a big hug! Thanks so much for sharing. We'll miss you while you are away teaching the little ones.

It was so nice to meet you Mad - I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work, plus I really loved your poetry. Would love to read more of that.

Another great meeting! It was so nice to meet the new people, and of course everyone's work is so inspiring. I know I get hyper -- it's all so interesting and stimulating. Thanks, everybody!

I am sad! I won't be attending this month - family calls! It was nice to be welcomed in to your fold last month, and I will be attending as much as possible! Can't wait to find out what the January theme will be!

Hey everyone, I've been showing a glass piece (that has nothing to do with the theme, it's a commission) on Facebook. Since I'm behind (but it's probably on it's last 'cook' ATM), it'll probably be brought along to our meeting. (Carol has seen pictures.)

    Just a teaser.

I'm also bringing something else that fits Pride (or if you don't have it, envy ;) ). Not new, but certainly made by me.

I'm curious to see what others will bring!

Want me to bring cookies? They'll be gluten free...

I have been dying to do something with this topic for several years, now. So far I've done one drawing.. I have an idea for another. So I'll bring at least the one. I am so looking forward to the December meeting!

Oh, I love this one. He and his son did several versions of these. To make it easier on some who might be able to do a work, just use the usual sayings, like "one in the hand, who in the bush" kind of saying. I'd like to do a whole series on this, instead of one entire painting. I think they'll be more sell-able. :D

see you this month. I'll prob be bringing some older work, since none of you have seen any of it.

Here's a link that explains some of them in detail…

I am totally unfamiliar about this. I did see a movie called Seven, and it had to do with people were murdered to represent each sin. Is this revelations or something? Vicki

Now this one sounds difficult. But interesting.
