This month the theme is Art Movements. There are many to choose from, but I selected the three below as this months exercise. Feel free to explore others if these three don't appeal to you. Break away from your usual style of painting and try something different. Most of the Art Movements are related to painting, but these techniques could be explored with other mediums as well... fabric, drawing, metal... the possibilities are endless. See where your imagination takes you.

Abstract Expressionism - an artistic movement of the mid-20th century comprising diverse styles and techniques and emphasizing especially an artist's liberty to convey attitudes and emotions through nontraditional and usually nonrepresentational means.

Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline , Lee Krasner , Robert Motherwell , William Baziotes , Mark Rothko , Barnett Newman , Adolph Gottlieb , Richard Pousette-Dart , Clyfford Still

Pop Art - art in which commonplace objects (as road signs, hamburgers, comic strips, or soup cans) are used as subject matter and are often physically incorporated in the work

Jim Dine, Keith Haring, David Hockney, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Tom Wesselmen, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol

Art Nouveau - a design style of late 19th century origin characterized especially by sinuous lines and foliate forms

Gustav Klimt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Alphonse Mucha, Hans Unger, Louis Comfort Tiffany
