Gallery360 Call for Artists

Call for artists for "I AM / YOU ARE"

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to fell powerful herself. A screening of Miss Representation will be shown at Kiggins Theater in Vancouver, WA on Tuesday, February 26th at 7pm.

In relation to the screening of Miss Representation, Gallery360 is hosting "I AM / YOU ARE", an exhibition of art forms related to this theme. All media types will be considered including video and literary material (poems, essays, etc) . Both

male and female artists are encouraged to participate. Themes include, but are not limited to:

  • Portrayal and betrayal in the media: Telling your own story.
  • Positive and negative perceptions of women expressed in media.
  • Expressions with the theme of “I AM NOT…”
  • Instances of a wife, mother, daughter, etc. being maligned in some way.
  • The experience of being female whether that means positive, negative, empowering or degrading.

There is a $25 entry fee for up to three submissions. Note:  Entry deadline is stated as January 27th but may be extended into early February if you need some more time.  Just let me know your thoughts if you are interested in this exhibit. Details and entry form can be found online at

Thank you!
