Four Seasons Dance Studio will host a Latin dance party to celebrate Brazilian "Carnaval" on Saturday, February 23, from 8 p.m. to midnight. The larger room will feature Brazilian music (samba, axé, música sertaneja, forró); the smaller room, music from Spanish-speaking Latin America (salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue). No partners nor previous dance experience is necessary to attend. The party will be a mix of lessons, refreshments, and socializing.
Léo da Paixão, the guest dance instructor, will give lessons from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Brazilian music room; Don DeBoer, the party's host, will teach other Latin dance steps in the smaller room. A professional face painter will paint faces from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. A limbo contest will also be featured.
Cover is $10.
Please wear skid-free shoes (e.g., no tennis shoes) to help protect the surface of the dance floor.
