Hard to believe that it's time for the final NYCPUG meetup of 2013. We began the year with a whirlwind tour of PostgreSQL data types, so it's only appropriate to conclude the year with explaining all of the PostgreSQL indexes.

PostgreSQL comes built-in with a variety of indexes, some of which are further extensible to build powerful new indexing schemes. But what are all these index types? What are some of the special features of these indexes? What are the size & performance tradeoffs? How do I know which ones are appropriate for my application?

At NYCPUG we aim to answer all of these questions as Jonathan S. Katz will explore the whole family of PostgreSQL indexes: B-tree, expression, GiST (of all flavors), GIN and how they are used in theory and practice.

This month, NYCPUG will be hosted at Gilt at 2 Park Ave, 5th Floor. Rangarajan Radhakrishnan, a senior software engineer at Gilt, will open up the evening with a brief presentation on "Docker and Postgres"

Please ensure that you RSVP with your first & last name, otherwise you will not be able to get building access.
