Are you a woman who likes to sing? Have you watched Glee or The Sing Off! and wanted to try? If so, visit with the warm and welcoming Potmac Harmony Chorus! We are a diverse group of women from the Washington, D.C. metro area who share a love of harmonizing and entertaining.
We rehearse most Wednesday evenings 7pm. When you visit you will be warmly welcomed by one of our members and introduced to the chorus and our Director -- and in a few minutes you'll be singing along with the chorus. You don't have to read music or have previous experience -- and you won't be asked to do anything you're not comfortable with (no solos!). We'll teach you, as we've taught many others, to sing a cappella harmony, barbershop style.
Chartered in 1976, the Potomac Harmony Chorus performs a variety of selections from the Great American Songbook and other popular sources. In doing so, we preserve -- and evolve -- a unique American art form. For our members, there's fun to be had, along with opportunities to develop our leadership and performing skills.
Under the direction of Master Director Ozzi Mask (http://potomacharmony.org/about/director.html), our Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International and has been honored for musical excellence five times as regional Sweet Adelines chorus champions and has always ranked as a top-five medalist at the annual regional competition.
We love to entertain local audiences, and we participate in numerous community activities including the Arlington County Fair, Relay for Life, Wolf Trap Holiday Sing-a-Long, Doorways of Northern Virginia Annual Breakfast, Light Up Rosslyn, Willard Hotel Holiday Lobbying and Ballston Common Shopping Mall Holiday Celebration.
The chorus also presents an Annual Show for the general public and performs at corporate events, residential complexes, hospitals, hospices, senior living facilities and other nonprofit organizations.
