City Council will pass renewable energy resolution
We are pleased to report that the City Council will consider a renewable energy resolution at its meeting on December 3 that meets many of the key goals we’ve been advocating for under our RF100 campaign and our partnership within the Solar Power Now Coalition. We have every reason believe it will pass.
We need your support. Join us to support the passage of the resolution; the meeting will be at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers in the Melvin Municipal Bldg, 300 West Washington St.
The resolution will designate 2040 as the target year to get to 100% renewable energy for City operations and will direct the City Manager to oversee the preparation of a Strategic Energy Plan to be submitted to the Council in one year. The Plan will lay out how various energy goals for the City will be achieved.
We are grateful to Marikay and other city council people, the CSC, and City Staff for listening to our concerns and drafting a resolution as a big step forward towards transitioning Greensboro to its goal of being the greenest city in the Southeast by 2040 and as a big step forward toward joining the other 145 cities nationally on the "Ready for 100" list.
