Our dear friend Albert known to many of you by the famous Prague's Cafe Philo is going to give us a talk about Theodor W. Adorno and his book 'The Dialectic of Enlightenment'.

'The Dialectic of Enlightenment' is without doubt one of the most influential philosophical works of the 20th century. Its authors, Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno, were leading figures of the Frankfurt School, associated with the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt am Main. To this day, philosophical and political discussions are often marked by vigorous debates about critical theory and neo-Marxism – currents of thought that trace their origins to the Frankfurt School.

Horkheimer and Adorno were deeply influenced by Marx, and their own work in turn shaped the student movements of the 1960s and 1970s. Yet, the 'Dialectic of Enlightenment' is something different from what one might expect of a “typical” philosophical book or a “typical” Marxist text. Join us to discover why...

No prior knowledge of the authors or their writings is required; everything essential will be explained during the lecture.

Like many of our past reading events and discussions, the seminar will take place at the living room of our friend Justin. Everyone is welcome to join. We’ll have a bottle of wine, some flavored water, tea, and light snacks for Sunday. Please feel free to bring any drink or snack you’d like to share!

Also, we’ve got a very friendly, well-trained dog who will be happy to see all of you. The name on the buzzer is McCandless, Mainous, and Everett – take the elevator to the 5th floor and it’s the door immediately to the left.
