However, what happens after the product becomes successful and starts to mature? As the product matures, its user acquisition rate starts to slow down and its market position is challenged by new market entrants.
ProductTank NYC and Squarespace are proud to host four amazing product leaders, who have succeeded in expanding their user segments while retaining their existing users. One of the speakers even introduced the modern product management practice and design thinking to large, traditional companies and helped them foster new product innovation.

Founder & CEO
Academy - UX & Design Thinking Studio
Adam Perlis is the Founder and CEO of Academy – UX & Design Thinking Studio. He is the former Design/UX Director for TIME Magazine where he oversaw the redesign of TIME, Fortune and Money.com. His award-winning work has been featured on Awwwards, The FWA, and TechCrunch. He was a Speaker at SXSW, Web Summit, Northside Festival, Fifteen Second Festival, Tech Open Air. Working as both a designer and developer his diverse skill set includes UX/UI design, front-end and back-end development, 2D & 3D motion graphics, video production.
He has also served on the Rutgers University Design Thinking Advisory Board, Working Not Working Members Board, and as a guest lecturer at General Assembly.
Product Design Manager
At GrubHub, Jia leads the Core product design team, building the ordering experience for 1.5m active diners. Before joining GrubHub, Jia managed a UX team that delivered reporting system and mobile experiences for HR platforms at Namely. Previously, she led the redesign of a complex EHR (electronic health records) in the hospice industry. Throughout her career working on both consumer-facing and enterprise applications, Jia oversaw the iteration of 50+ winning experiments, pushed out features that reduced care support calls, and grew the UX and design teams in several organizations.
Jia is an active Design Sprint practitioner. She loves to share her experience running Sprints and training the teams on best practices.
Tim is a Product Manager at Squarespace, where he works on marketing tools which help over a million customers promote their presence online. Every couple of years, he flip-flops between engineering and product. Before Squarespace, Tim worked in ad-tech, at an event aggregation startup, and at a handful of manufacturing companies. Tim also teaches web development with ScriptEd and is a former instructor at Dev Bootcamp.
User Experience Researcher
Eli is a User Researcher at Squarespace. He’s earned his grey hairs, having worked in UX research and product testing roles for 20 years at companies like Microsoft, Facebook, and Apple, as well as at fallen giants like Sun Microsystems and America Online, and a handful of startups.
In Seattle, he was a founding organizer at Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, which brings neighborhoods together to advocate for safer streets for walking and bicycling.
