What we're about
What to expect
The intention of this group is to provide informal social gatherings for local creatives to meet each other and hang out, whilst hopefully having a lot of fun in the process.
We like to 'support our scene', meaning that if someone is going to the effort of making an interesting event happen, collectively we can help make sure that people know about it and get an audience there. We want to be more than a listings site though, and only tell our members about events where there will be a group social connected to it.
Who can join?
Anyone that the group appeals to, including but not limited to - Musicians / Producers / Writers / Programmers / Developers / Theatre makers / Choreographers / Visual artists / Photographers / Craft Makers / Designers / Filmmakers etc etc.
Anyone with an interest in the group is welcome. The wide range of people who attend is one of the strengths of the group.
We also welcome people who don't count themselves as creative in their work, but who share an interest in arts & culture.
History of the group
The group was set up by Danielle Rose in August 2014, as a way to meet other people working locally in the creative and digital industries. Since then, the group has grown into a friendly community.
With Danielle relocating for work, the group is now hosted by Daisy Carr.
The popular monthly mixtape swaps, started by this group, are now hosted by Will ST, as part of Fresh Music meetup group's regular events.
Got an idea for a meet up event?
With over 600 members we know have an amazing pool of knowledge of our local area! 600 heads are better than one so if you have an idea for a meet up event that supports the local creative scene in Bournemouth & Poole then drop Daisy a message.
We ask that all events have a social element, so we can get to know each other a bit better with each meet up! Events in the past have included:
theatre performances // cinema screenings // lazer quest // story telling evenings // networking events // nights in the pub // charity gigs // summer bbqs // lectures // eurovision // craft nights // pantomimes // political hustings
