Here are some additional instructions: Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early to your Repack session so we can begin right on time with a brief orientation. Long pants, shirts that cover shoulders, and fully enclosed shoes are required. Please let us know if you plan to arrive late, volunteers will only be accepted 20 minutes past the start time.
Parking: There are over 300 free parking spots available for all volunteers, visitors and Food Depository staff. Parking is available on a first come, first serve basis. You may also use street parking on Karlov Ave. and Ann Lurie Place, next to the Food Depository. All groups on buses should be dropped off at our parking lot entrance on Karlov Ave.
Entrance: Please enter through our main entrance/Atrium doors, which are on the south side of our facility. Signs will direct you to the entrance and to the volunteer lobby where you will be greeted by our team for check-in.
Dress: Please note that all volunteers are required to wear long pants, covered shoulders and close toed shoes in the warehouse.
Personal Belongings: Lockers with locks are available on site, but please note that we are a tobacco-free and weapons-free campus.
Projects: Volunteers must be able to stand for up to 90 minutes while doing some light lifting and bending. We do have some seated positions available, depending on the project. If you require assistance, please contact us.
Health: If you are feeling under the weather or experiencing any symptoms of illness on the day of your volunteer event, we encourage you to stay home. There will be many more opportunities to volunteer with us when you're feeling better!
Attendance: We are extremely dependent on our volunteers for these events and last-minute cancellations or no shows hinder our ability to provide food for those in need. If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel online or notify us at least 48 hours in advance.
