Before you dive into WordPress development, it's a good idea to start with a solid foundation - setting up WordPress and a development environment on your machine. In this talk we will discuss how to best manage your local set up.
We'll look at setting up a local server using options such as Local by Flywheel, MAMP and Wamp. These tools allow you to run a local version of your WordPress site so you can build features and make changes without worrying about users being affected.
We will also look at how to use git with WordPress so you can easily manage your code across your local, dev, staging and live servers.
If you are just starting your journey into web development with WordPress, what you learn here will get you well on your way. Even If you have been building wonderful websites for a while now, it's always worthwhile getting a recap.
We'll be meeting on the 24th of Feb in Glenwood - more details about the venue will be coming soon. Refreshments will be available. Looking forward to seeing you there!
