Hello Durban WordPress community! It has been FAR too long since we last met. I’m very keen to see you all again, so come join me at 6pm on the 21st of August for a talk, along with some pizza and drinks.
There has been a lot of talk about headless content management systems recently. It is said they provide the best of both worlds - they allow your content editors and site admins to work with the backend dashboard and tools that they know and love, while your developers can build the front end of the site using any language and framework they want. Sounds great right?
I decided that I wanted to explore this option and see if it lives up to the hype. In this talk I’ll walk you through a site I built using WordPress as the ‘backend’, Nuxt.js on the front end and the WordPress Rest API to transfer data back and forth. I’ll go through some of the challenges I had in implementing this architecture, as well as the benefits that I’ve seen in choosing this path.
Hopefully by the end of the talk you’ll have a better understanding of what it means to use a headless CMS and also whether or not this is the right approach for you and your website.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!
