Make sure to buy your tickets soon for WordCamp 2019 (if you want the t-shirt, that is...they need lead time to order them). This year, as with last year, it will be held at the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management in south Orlando. This is a 3-day event with Workshops on Friday and speakers and sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Kids are welcome to come and participate in the KidsCamp sessions from 10am to 3pm on Saturday. Interested WordPress parents or guardians will need to have a ticket for Saturday attendance purchased before signing up their junior creators. Lunch and snacks are included. Parents will be responsible for staying with their child during KidsCamp, but may switch guardians during the course of the day if you are both attending. Each child will need his or her own laptop to work on. SCHEDULE https://2019.orlando.wordcamp.org/schedule/ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! This is a morning meeting on the first Friday of each month for collaboration and help with WordPress. We can ask questions of each other, discuss projects, or follow up from a prior meeting. This is meant to be a helpful and low key way to share knowledge and experiences. Here’s what you’ll need for an optimal experience: 1. Charge up and bring your laptop, logins, and notebook 2. Know that there are some WordPress issues that need more time to resolve. So, we may run out of time before your problem is fixed. 3. Money for a drink or food from Axum Coffee in return for letting us use their space to collaborate. There is plenty of free public parking in the parking garage at 160 S Boyd St, and it's just a one minute walk from parking to Axum Coffee. If there are a lot of attendees and the weather is good, we sometimes move our group to the patio seating behind Axum. Otherwise, just look for us inside. We'll be the ones talking loudly and wildly gesticulating as we discuss WordPress plugins, blogging, site management, online business, you name it. If there is lots of interest, we will be limiting the attendee and invited guest counts for RSVP so as to not overwhelm Axum’s space with too many people from just our group. A waiting list will be established once we reach the limit. Thanks! See you all there!
The Automattic Grand Meetup is in town and they want to meet and chat with as many WordPress users as possible! Join us for drinks, appetizers and desserts as you meet the folks that make WordPress.com and Jetpack (among other things). Please RSVP at the main event link at https://www.meetup.com/WordPress-Orlando/events/263847409/ by September 6th so our hosts can plan enough food and drinks for everyone. On-site parking will be provided, details to come after the RSVP deadline. Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa 1900 East Buena Vista Dr · Lake Buena Vista
What if there was a way that you could communicate directly with search engines? You could help Google understand your content and give them more information to make your site more visible. We’ll talk in more detail about Structured Data and how it can help your website stand out in search results. We’ll also discuss how you can implement it, submit to Google and test the results. ABOUT THE PRESENTER Irina Blumenfeld is a Web Consultant and Founder of Netmagik, based in Orlando Florida. Irina has been building websites for over 15 years, and worked on projects for large universities, medical groups, real estate and small businesses. Please RSVP. A pre-meeting social begins at 5:30 pm at 33 & Melt just next door to ScribbleSpace. The presentation begins at 6pm at ScribbleSpace. Our goal is to have 20 or more people attend each event. Bring a friend. Thanks! NOTE THE NEW LOCATION! We now have a new regular location for all of our Third Thursday Meetups. ScribbleSpace is a co-working and meeting space located in the Summerport Village subdivision south of the Florida Turnpike off of Winter Garden Vineland Rd. There is a nice little craft beer bar and restaurant next door (https://33andmelt.com/) that happens to have its happy hour between 4 and 6:30pm, so you'll want to come early or stay after for socialization. The full directions are included in this Event invite, but for convenience of first-time visitors, here they are repeated: ScribbleSpace (13790 Bridgewater Crossings Blvd #1080, Windermere, FL - https://goo.gl/maps/Z987BQxwnqJqk3ZZA) is located just a couple of miles south of the Turnpike on Winter Garden Vineland Rd. Turn right onto Ancilla Blvd and follow it to Bridgewater Crossings Blvd. Turn left onto Bridgewater and go 1/4 mile to the roundabout. ScribbleSpace is in the cul-de-sac to the right of the roundabout. You can park along that cul-de-sac street, or you can park in the resident parking lot directly behind ScribbleSpace.
