Signs: We will have some signs to hold.

    Contact: Pam[masked]

    General Reminders:

    1) Do not go into the store, before, during or after the rally. If you choose to protest, you can no longer go into the store to check anything out on any day.

    2) Do not walk or park in the plaza lot. We have to stay on public property.

    3) Do not stand too close to the entrance.

    4) Do not block the view of vehicles pulling out of the plaza.

    5) Do not interrupt the flow of traffic. If cars stop, make sure they pull in and keep moving.

    6) If it looks like rain we will still protests. Most signs are plastic covered and we have plastic bags for signs the public brings out. We will not protest if there is lightening.

    7) Please leave your dogs at home. We do not recommend having animals at protests that are near traffic and subject to potentially bad weather.

Why are we launching a public education campaign?

The new owners of the Little Pet Shop declined our invitation to become a pet friendly store and recently shipped in puppies from a large Minnesota Broker named Patrick Fulton (Fulton Enterprises) and a broker from Missouri (Pinnacle Pets). Both brokers are working with irresponsible breeders. Some with over 200 adult dogs.

Fulton Enterprises also regularly ships puppies to Petland Novi, Westland
Dog Food Company, VI Pets, Pet City Pets and has shipped to The Family
Puppy and Paws N Claws in the past. Fulton has been cited for shipping underage pups.  Fulton delivered a pup to The Little Pet shop this month
directly from Gina and Nolan Boer (Rock Valley, IA). The Boer’s last inspection report shows repeat violations to the federal Animal Welfare Act including:

    • New area in older barn with 37 dogs is not insulated and has no means of
    heating and cooling.

    • The enclosures do not have shelter structure for the dogs.

•The barn has holds in the roof where the rain can easily come through where thedogs are.

    • Feeders are rusted and flaking.

•Underneath the grated floors of the enclosures has a build up of old food,
waste, excreta and left over reside from previous rinsing.

•There is dust, dirt and a build up of grime throughout the building on the
enclosures, light fixtures, and objects within the room creating an unsanitary
    environment. Protests began yesterday.

The owners have no experience selling animals and ignored further discussions to promote humane pet acquisitions by working with local rescue groups instead.

The Reliance Animal Hospital has teamed up with the new owners of the pet
store with the knowledge that these puppies are coming from out-of-state
where families can not visit the kennel. The attending veterinarian is
well aware the high cost of treating a genetically defective animals and also
knows that these are directly related to irresponsible breeding (in
    breeding and over breeding).
