I wanted to let you know what we are up to regarding the Allegan case and some of you have been calling me today asking how to help. (See Discussion Board for News Stories)
Allegan Shelter was flooded with volunteers and supplies today. I would not recommend going out there right now. In cases like this, the best thing to do is send money. If you are a vet tech or experienced groomer you may want to just the call the shelter at[masked] and leave a voicemail. Keep in mind they’re overwhelmed with calls and might take a day or two to return the call.
If you wish to send a check to help out, the address is: Allegan County Animal Shelter,[masked]rd Street, Allegan, MI, 49010. You also may donate online via Wishbone Pet Rescue, which aids the Allegan County Animal Shelter.
We have two Meetup Members on site helping Jill Fritz from the HSUS. Nicole and Mindy signed up and made the 4 hour drive to pitch in with cage cleaning and walking the dogs.
Julie Baker posted 117 photos from the rescue yesterday. Here are some of the one that really shocked me.
The good news…the couple did release the dogs and they will be going up for adoption. More good news, Senator Jones represents Allegan County and he just happens to be sponsoring the Puppy Protection Act. We will be urging for a hearing as a result of this case!
Today I prepared a summary of the case for the MHS’s lobbyist who is working with Senator Jones.
I will be sending out Fact Sheets with this case to be used at our Lobby Day Next Week. If you really want to make a difference…HELP US get this bill passed by lobbying with us on Tuesday April 17th! VERY IMPORTANT! Registration Deadline is Thursday.
