Why do we live? ...

What is the purpose of human life?

How can we find peace of mind when life is so often full of suffering?

Who am I? What is my true self?

Can we obtain true and everlasting happiness exist in this lifetime?

What happens to us in the afterlife? When can I finally attain enlightenment?

If you've ever wondered about these spiritual questions seriously or are curious about these issues, then we would like to invite you to join us in exploring the teachings of Pure Land Buddhism together. Although the teachings of the Pure Land School are one of the most popular throughout Asia, this profound wisdom based directly from the teachings of the Buddha is just now beginning to spread in the United States.

This Buddhist community welcomes all people of all faiths and all walks of life to come together and seriously think about these questions from a new perspective that will put you on the path toward achieving absolute happiness while still alive. The purpose of these meetings is to guide us toward experiencing the wondrous feeling of being born human. In order to achieve this, we must first listen, learn, reflect, and practice the teachings together.

Topics include:

1.) Enlightenment: Introduction to Buddhism's goal

2.) Law of Cause and Effect: Who or what exactly determines our fate?

3.) Difference between Good, Evil: Learning our mind is the source

4.) Planting Seeds of Happiness: Helping others benefits me

5.) Buddha's Compassion: Eliminate suffering, grant joy

6.) Worldly Passions & Attachment: Can they really be eliminated completely?

7.) The Root Cause of Suffering is a Dark Mind

So on a monthly basis, we will have find out more about these topics from guest lecturers who will teach classes at local libraries, community centers, and universities in the San Francisco Bay areas. We will also come together and watch Buddhist videos and recorded lectures and discuss them afterward. There will also be opportunities for Question and Answer sessions directly with Buddhist teachers. Occasionally, we will all go out together for a meal or tea, go out for a hike, and socialize together.

As a group we will support each other positively, listen to each other, and share our collective wisdom and experiences. Then with the guidance we find from the sutras and each lesson we can move forward toward arriving a life of limitless joy and gratitude. Feel free to message with any questions. :-)
