This new session is the beginning of a series of sessions I will hold on fostering your ability to use creative expression to maintain well being, increasing happiness and healing from any trauma.

Creativity is a primary behaviour that is essential to our well being.

Creativity is fundamental to the evolution of our species.

We are all designed to be creative... the right (and feminine) hemisphere of our brain is devoted to creative expression.  It also happens to be the part of the brain in which we access our higher mind.  Thus our most optimal functioning occurs when we are being creative.

Whether seeking healing or simply everyday happiness, creativity is an essential skill we should all have in our repertoire.  Unfortunately, many of us have not been creative since school and lost this vital ability.

This session we will explore the many ways by which you can harness the power of creation for wellbeing and healing.

This first session will be informative and broad, but future sessions we will focus on specific forms of creativity such as art, music, writing and dance.

I suggest purchasing a book, diary or art journal you can use to collate your creations, take notes and do the exercises we will do in.  Please also bring a selection of pens, crayons, pastels, felts, even paints if you so desire (but please also bring a ground mat if you are going to delve into that).  Don't worry if you have none, I'll bring a selection for everyone to use.

KOHA $10

Session 2 will be 2 weeks later- Sat 7th Sept. [masked] - MUSIC

Session 3 will be Saturday 14th September[masked] - ART

subsequent sessions on dance and writing will be scheduled if there is interest expressed.

I have numerous qualifications in the Arts -

Masters in the Arts in Screen Production in which I covered a range of topics in digital media, advanced screenwriting, creative producing, etc.

Graduate Diploma in Arts in Theatre Studies (Acting, Directing, Producing, Playwriting, etc.)

Advanced Certificate in Commercial Dance (NZQA)

Performance Certificate In Performing Arts (Trinity College of London) - for singing, acting, speaking, movement and instrument playing

I have over 10 years experience working in the creative arts industries as a professional dancer, choreographer, actor, singer.  I have worked as an assistant director on films and in television, and also in production.  I have taught dancing, singing and acting for many years.

I have 15 months of experience with Art Therapy.

On a personal level I compose my own music, write lyrics, play instruments, do creative writing, paint, draw, etc. on an everyday basis :)

I enjoyed this session. Although there was a small turn out of people, to me, there seemed to be good group synergy. Personally, I preferred the drawing-based activities rather than the writing-based ones, but overall, I still found this meetup worthwhile;)

If anyone is dying to still experience collective catharsis, please contact me and we can organise this session privately between those who are interested.
