Details
A Warm welcome from me, Becx, the founding host of the Poets in Putney - Poetry Open Mic night - a new favourite for this suburb of town! Many thanks to Daniel and Ashley for allowing me to host this in the Putney Social Group.
After a hit first poetry open mic night in June this year, with 100% 5-star reviews from attendees, Poets in Putney returns with the next Poetry Open Mic Night!
Please note: before you RSVP in Meetup, please buy your tickets - £3 performers and £5 Audience, in addition to your RSVP in this group.
We charge a small ticket fee to cover event costs, including hire of the lovely Hall in the old part of Putney Library.

Performers get 5 minutes to read their poems.
Book early to avoid disappointment! The first event was almost sold out...
Please kindly arrive early, doors will be open from 6:30pm, so time to socialise before the poetry starts at 7pm - if you arrive after 7pm we will not be able to guarantee entry. We aim to wrap up the poetry by 21:30 at the latest, after which you are free to leave and go to the pub with any new pals you've made.
Come join us for a night of poetry at Poets in Putney - bring your own poems or just listen and enjoy the creative vibes!
### 📝 What Happens at a Poetry Open Mic Night?
Every open mic is a little different, but Poets in Putney is all about being relaxed, informal, and inclusive.
Whether you're an amateur, a professional, or just poetry-curious, you're welcome here. You can book a ticket as a performer or an audience member — either way, we’d love to have you.
I’ll host the evening and call up all registered performers one by one for their slot. If there's time at the end, we’ll invite anyone from the audience who wants to give it a go.
### 🎙️ Performing
- You’ll have up to 5 minutes to share your poem.
- There will be a mic and adjustable stand.
- You’re welcome to read from paper, your phone, or recite from memory.
- There’s no theme – just bring your words, your voice, and your heart.
### ⚠️ Content Warnings
This is an open mic, so poetry may range from funny and romantic to powerful and raw. Some performances may include emotionally sensitive topics such as:
Grief, trauma, mental health, discrimination, violence, abuse, or identity-based experiences.
Performers will be encouraged to provide content warnings when needed. If at any point you’d like to step out, you’re free to do so.
### 😅 Not Feeling Brave?
That’s totally fine. Buy an audience member ticket and soak up the vibes. If you feel inspired on the night, we’ll offer a few end-of-show slots for anyone who didn’t sign up but wants to share a piece.
(I’ve been there myself — just watching others can help give you the confidence you need.)
### Refreshments
There is no liquor license, so no alcohol will be served at the premises.
🥤Soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on the night.
