Jon will explore how to drive the Asterisk Open Source PBX with Python (among other things), and kick things off with some hands-on phone games (as opposed to games you play ON your phone) and a discussion of how the games work. (and there is beer involved, somewhere there).
Jon will demonstrate driving Asterisk with Python in order to set up a Powered By Python Asterisk server at home which will accept connections from friends/family who use some softphone (e.g., Zoiper) to communicate with one another over a data network.
(We won't be covering installation of Asterisk or companion software (e.g., text to speech), but will cover some configuration details for sip.conf and extensions.conf.)
Bring your Asterisk questions!
Our meetup is located at the Stag's Head Pub, near Richmond and Shepherd. Please enjoy their menu and drink offerings, so they continue to enjoy hosting us! Lastly, please RSVP (even if you're a "Maybe"!) to assist us with capacity planning.
Share your Lightning Talks! A "lightning talk" is a quick mini-presentation (5 minutes maximum) on any Python topic you'd like. We'll save time for 2-3 of these each month: to save a spot, post a comment with your talk's title/topic. Beginner topics are always welcome!
Presentations Wanted: If you'd like to share a topic with the group at an upcoming, let's talk!
