IESE Business School is looking for a Research Assistant:


I am looking for a Research Assistant with data wrangling and Data analysis skills to work on a project on “Financial Markets and Society: Meanings, Practices, and Impact.” This position is particularly apt for candidates who come from technical fields and might be interested in doing a PhD in the social sciences (Economics, Sociology, Management).


The candidate will help in the collection and statistical analysis of various datasets:

  • Media and published reports
  • Protests targeted at US corporations
  • Shareholder resolutions
  • Shareholder engagement activity
  • Institutional Investors votes
  • Media information on corporate reputation
  • Movements of personnel across banks and investors in RI


The candidate will also contribute to the writing of the academic papers reporting the results of these studies.



  • BS/ BA degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Economics. Last degree must have been obtained less than 5 years ago.
  • Work-permit in Spain
  • Knowledge of:
    • Python
    • Data Wrangling and Data Management Skills (including  web site scraping, basic knowledge of SQL, and Pandas in Python)
    • Machine Learning (nothing too fancy but familiarity with basic frameworks)
    • Natural Language Processing (especially Topic Modeling)
    • Econometrics and Statistics skills appreciated (but not required)
    • Some familiarity with data on financial market preferred (but not required)
  • High level of spoken and written English


The Position is Full-time, and the salary is 1300 euros/months before tax


Start data is January 10th, 2019, until Sep. 30, 2019, with possibility of extending for one more year.
