Django Day

Interested in learning about Django? Or are you a Django user looking to get more out of the language?

Our next Django workshop will be sponsored by Cuker, and hosted at Cuker's offices in Solana Beach. We are planning to have a whole day Saturday, 9AM-5PM.

Tracks:

Unlike some past workshops, this workshop is going to be broken up into two tracks: an intro track and an intermediate track.

Intro track: TBD

Intermediate track:

  • Django Security - David F
  • Django for Production - Nikolaj
  • The Django Ecosystem - Trey
  • Useful Django Apps - Paul

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks again for coming, it was great to see so much enthusiasm and interest in Django. Thanks again to David and Kendall, Trey and Paul for putting this together. Cuker Interactive was excited to be a part of this, and always happy to host community events that encourage and grow the tech community.

As I mentioned we have openings available for our Web Cube Work Shop. It is a free event for experienced Django Developers who are interested in becoming Web Cube certified, understand the platform, and join our referral program. For more information please email us at [masked], or to apply please fill in the form at http://wwww.webcubecms.com/workshop/.

    Thanks!
    Nikolaj

Slides and code are up on github: https://github.com/pythonsd/learning-django

I'm still working on getting slides for one intermediate talk, but hopefully I'll have them soon.

Thanks to everyone who came, everyone who helped and to Cuker for sponsoring.

Don't forget about the parking! You cannot park in the two (or three) hour zone all day. See the helpful graphic.

Per http://mherman.org/blog/2012/12/30/django-basics/, on line "...urls.py file within the books directory" Im finding urls.py under testproject dir, not books dir.

If you have never used Django or Python before, please try to go through part 1 of this video tutorial before Saturday.

Heads up: The posts that go with the videos have some typos... I'm sure the videos themselves are fine though.

Would the speakers for the intermediate track be willing to post their slides somewhere? Thanks!

    February 18, 2013

    • David F.

I'll get them up on pythonsd.org after the event.

  • David F.

If you know you can't make it, please RSVP no so some one who can make it can come. Also we are still looking for lightning talks. It is just ten minutes. Show off your project!

    February 18, 2013

  • Steve De L.

I have a conflict now so un-RSVPing. darn.

    February 14, 2013

  • David F.

If you are interested in giving a lightning talk please respond to this and post a topic. A lightning talk is a 15 minute max (enforced) presentation on a Django related topic. Feel free to talk about your personal project, interesting libraries or new features of Django coming in 1.5!
