Please join us for yet another interesting, fun night of self-tracking presentations, sharing ideas, and showing tools. If you are self-tracking in any way - biometrics, mood monitoring, life-logging, DNA sequencing, etc. etc. - come and share your methods and results.
NOTE: LOCATION CHANGE!! Due to overwhelming demand, we are moving to Microsoft Research,
1288 Pear Ave, Mountain View, CA 94043. We have some exciting speakers coming. We are continuing to work on perfecting the new format. Your input is welcome!
6 -7:30 pm SOCIAL HOUR AND WORKSHOPFAIR: LIFELOGGING
Journals, wearable cameras, video streams, life caching, logbooks, etc., etc. If you record your life or make tools to record lives, please bring something to share/demo/explain during the workshop portion of the Show&Tell. You do not need to have a prepared talk, or permission to show something. Just come and bring what you have. We will have tables and power strips where you can plug in a laptop if you like, but paper is good too.
Think: "science fair."
We are going to save the talks for personal accounts of self-tracking and self-experimentation, rather than sales/investor pitches. But of course we are also interested in tools. If you are making something useful for self-trackers – software, hardware, web services, or data standards – please demo it in this workshop portion of the Show&Tell.
7:30 pm – 9 pm QS SHOW&TELL TALKS
For this meetup, we're excited to announce that Gordon Bell from Microsoft will coming to present his lifelogging work, which you may have read about in his book Total Recall! As another special treat, Karen Herzog and Richard Sachs will tell the story of how they documented the health and caregiving of their late daughter Sophia.
Please let us know in advance if you plan to give a talk, so we can discuss how much time you'd like to take.
QS SPONSORS: OUR THANKS TO GOOGLE HEALTH, MICROSOFT RESEARCH, HEALTHTAP
An incredible space, healthy food, video recording, and yes, wine are generously being provided by Google Health (https://health.google.com) and Microsoft Research (http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/labs/siliconvalley/default.aspx). Thanks too to HealthTap (http://www.healthtap.com), our first annual sponsor, for supporting the Quantified Self movement expansion across the country and around the world.
Three cheers to them for making our gathering possible!
QS SPONSORSHIP - WHAT IT IS
We use the sponsor money to pay for professional video recording and some decent refreshments, as well as to fund projects that help the larger QS community. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring Quantified Self, please let us know ([masked]).
