Extreme Beginner Discussion and Try Out: What It Takes to become a Racer

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • What it takes to race, chance to sit in a race car, talk to racers and hear their stories. Some photos would be nice.
Discuss costs, clothes we need to wear and our next step if we want to start racing. What mechanics do.

How to choose the best first experience.

There are still openings for the first Boston Chapter BMWCCA sprint karting event of our[masked] indoor season. This event will be held at F1 Boston in Braintree, and is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15. Club members can get more info and register at the Boston Chapter BMWCCA site. We also allow guests to race with our club, so if you are not a member and would like to participate, contact me.

...also, check out the photo albums in this meetup group. The pictures of the Kart races are from the venues we frequent. They are however from league events and may look more competitive than it would be for an arrive and drive event. Like JZ mentioned below, usually after an event, especially at the F1 Boston venues, we hang around to chat after a bout of racing. Even if you don't want to race, you can join in on the conversation afterward, which would swing from the races we just completed to Formula 1 and everything in-between :-)

    Hope to see you soon.

    Hi Suzanne,

I think this is a great idea. I'm not sure we would get enough people to warrant a panel discussion, but I'm sure any of the organizers would be happy to share their experiences or put you in contact with other racers if you had specific questions. Joining us for one of the arrive-n-drive events is a great way to get started. Just bring close-toed shoes and the costs are always posted with the meet-up announcement. Hope to see you at the track!
