Project Group & Rails Girls Coach Nite

Ruby & Rails Project Group is at 6:00-9:00 pm

Please RSVP if you plan on attending and text me at[masked] so I can let you know of any last minute changes.

Location
We have moved back to Panera Bread in Glendale. We will try to get a seat in the Meeting Room (to the right as you walk in the front door.) The Jenga was killing me at Syrup. Sorry downtowners.

What do we do?
We meet up with our laptops, pair program and work on projects together to learn Ruby and Rails. Come with your own project or join an existing one. We will have the support of each others knowledge. We'll discuss any problems we are having and go over them together. Or feel free to study whatever you are working on.

If you are brandy new to Ruby or Ruby on Rails, don't feel intimidated, everyone has to start somewhere. We will help you get up to speed if you are willing to put in the time. There are a lot of great tutorials to get you up and rolling even if you've never programmed before.

    • First go through Try Rubyhttp://tryruby.org/levels/1/challenges/0
Type in the word next to start.

    • Then alternate between these two books.
       http://pine.fm/LearnToProgram/
       http://ruby.learncodethehardway.org/

    • Then move on to Rails

If you are more advanced, you can have a dedicated study night and pitch in with your expertise when needed. We are actively looking for coaches and mentors so feel free to volunteer. Maybe you have a demonstration you are willing to share with the group.
