What we’re about
Welcome to RAINBOWERS (lgtbiq+) Social of South Yorkshire, a friendly and inclusive social group for those who identify as being part of the rainbow community or one of our allies. Whether you are keen for drinks, a social dinner, activities, a book club, or just a general catch up, this group is for you!
We come from all over South Yorkshire - Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield and wider afield! You might be new to the region, or have been here years, you are most welcome.
We hold various social events each month, past events have included dinners, drinks, go-karting, laser quest, drag shows, visit to Manchester Canal Street and bowling. We look forward to welcoming you at an event soon!
If you use to be part of the group, but no longer and not sure why, it may be become you've been inactive, we've also now become a subscribed members only group, see below.
Some important info!
As of the 1st July 2023 - RAINBOWERS Social is a subscribed members only group. This means that each member will be required to pay a small subscription fee (new members are pro-rata depending on when you join throughout the 12 month period). The maximum fee is £5.00 - on average 40 pence a month! We think it's good value! If your new, don't worry, we won't ask for the money straght away - come along and check us out and see how you feel - you've got upto 3 events or a month, which ever comes first!
All members have access to the WhatsApp group chat as well.
Now some really important info!
Whilst we are all about fun and having a social get together, we want you to be aware of some important guidance - any breaches may result in a warning or removal from the group:
• We are an inclusive LGBTIQ+ group, we all have a responsibility to be leaders in inclusion and tolerance to each other and those who are not part of our group. Please have respect for one another
• Please be considerate, some members may not be openly out to their friends or family. If you are aware of a member not out please courteous and have discretion.
• Do not send individual messages to people you have not met, particularly if you are new to the group. If you need some help or support with an event, then please contact member of the organising team only or the specific event host.
• This is a social group, it is here for you to meet new people and make friends, and discuss various subjects with each other, whether it’s at drinks or at an activity. It is important though you do not confuse this with being a support group. Members are not here to provide counselling or medical support, if you feel you need that assistance, please research the various helplines available or contact your GP.
Please advise any concerns or issues to the organising and leadership team.

As of the 12 January 2024, Matthew has now stepped down from being the Organiser and passed the batton onto Craig. The team would like to express our thanks to Matthew for setting up the group and continuing to organise from far afield.
