Science Trivia Night

What does H2O mean or what is the closest planet to Earth? Come and find out with many other questions to be answer at the Museum of Natural Sciences Science Trivia Night. Every first Thursday of the month the museum has science trivia. You do not half to be a science geek to join just come and have a fun time. But if you are a science geek then this might something for you to enjoy and also help out the group. Just please do not use your smart phone to help out the group or might get kick out. But come and have a wonderful time.

Science Trivia starts at 7pm but please be there before that time since seating is very limited. Also please update your RSVP if anything changes on you so I can get a head count on how many chairs to save at a table.

I've been in touch with Paul, the MC, and asked him what questions/ideas he would like to see. Here is his response: "Anything science is fair game, in my opinion, and that includes science fiction, science in the movies, comic books, television, music, etc. I favor natural sciences over physical, but I often do inventions, technologies and astronomy."

That opens the door for us to submit Sci-Fi questions. I asked him to let me know about themes so that our suggestions could be relevant to that month's questions. But we can submit general Sci-Fi questions.

    Go team Sci-Fi Geeks!

    "Missed it by *that* much".

I loved the look on your faces when you saw the "sponge" answer I'd written. Priceless.

Next time, I hope we get a question that will engage the kid at our table. There were a few such questions in last month's quiz. He seemed bored. We could have cheated and told him to play outside or in the museum for a while, then ask him if he noticed the people in the fountain. But I don't want to cheat and that wouldn't really engage his mind.

Another super-fun night, great group of people. Thanks to Jeanne and Brian for hosting. Much tougher questions this time, and we did very well to come in third!

Although they probably won't ask about it, I've very excited about amplituhedrons.

I think we have a shot at winning this time. I do have some suggestions.
    1. Jeanne writes the questions on a non-answer piece of paper in case we need to refer back to them.
    2. If someone 'knows' the answer, they ask for the paper. Their written answer is presented to the group for correction or affirmation.
    3. Anyone wanting to make a change needs to write their change (proposed answer) on a piece of paper and pass it around for a group vote.
    4. Answers are 'discussed' at a whisper volume level only.

We don't "half" to be a science geek to join? What if we are whole science geeks (smile)?
