If you don't have other plans for the weekend, then please consider driving one hour from Pittsburgh to my farm near Seven Springs. It is super easy to get to and I thought it might be fun for the group to come and visit and hear about the plans for a large organic garden, a green house to grow veggies all winter, a fruit orchard etc...
The weather is supposed to be chilly this weekend, so if you do plan to come, please bring a raw food dish to share with the group, warm clothes to wear and your hiking boots (or any old shoes that you don't mind getting dirty).
Come to explore the 50 acres, fresh spring and spring house, old historic barn and old log cabin farmhouse (under the brown siding!) and huge fresh water pond and stream.
Since this event is short notice so we will plan for another farm event later in the year when we can swim in the huge fresh water pond and possibly even camp out.
Please know that I recently purchased this 50 acre farm and am opening it up to anyone who may want to use part of the land to grow food and to learn about organic gardening etc. We also are looking for someone who may be interested in living at the farm and running the fruit tree nursery for the international non-profit Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Contact me at (724)[masked] or [masked] if you have any interest or want to learn more.
Please also contact me if you are willing to host a pot luck or have ideas for upcoming events and gatherings.
I hope everyone enjoys the weekend no matter what you choose to do!
To get to the farm, take the turnpike to the Donegal Exit, turn left onto Route 31 and go 3 - 4 miles and turn right onto Roaring Run. The farm is on the left - big open farm land with an old brown farmhouse and a big old barn. The driveway is lined by pine trees
