We are having a class on live fermented foods! After the gardens have given of their abundance in the Spring and Summer, the Autumn leaves fall, and the Earth prepares a long Winter's rejuvenating rest. This is the time that we humans enjoy the fruits of the Earth. Fermenting is an amazing way to preserve our wonderful live foods throughout the Winter; in addition, the fermenting process produces a healthful bacteria known as acidophilus. This superb friendly bacteria promotes good colon and intestinal health, proper digestion of food, and healthy bowel movements just to name a few benefits. It is no wonder that all ancient cultures ate some form of fermented foods. We will be learning to prepare some of these amazingly, spectacular, and power-packed goodies!
