    Beautiful day!

    Sprouting Quinoa in Perth

Need: 250 g organic quinoa seeds, flat bottom container 20 x 25 cm, mesh such as clean flyscreen or flat strainer with 1 mm gaps.

Method: Soak quinoa seeds for 30 minutes only. Rinse and drain seeds thoroughly over mesh. Let mesh lie over container draining for 10 hours out of direct sunlight or under a dark shade cloth. Then do a second rinse and drain. And then a third and final rinse and drain. Let sprouts drain dry for a few more hours. This brings them to the 24 hour mark when they are crunchy to eat and some have 4 to 6 mm tails.

You only need a longer soak time and shorter intervals between rinses in a colder climate than Perth except perhaps midwinter. You can also continue the rinse and drain cycles for 3 or 4 days to get soft green non crunchy quinoa sprouts.

Thank you all for the enjoyment yesterday.
